ABOUT ME

Marshell “ShellyDobo” Johnson is a wife, mother, published author, music producer, singer, songwriter,  composer, podcaster, and founder of The Joy of Music and Movement (TJOMM), a non-profit organization focused on outreach community programs and integrative arts programs in the performing arts.

As of this past July 2022, she has become one of the “friends” while co-hosting the podcast Alexandra & Friends where she is a great voice to hear and adds so much to the team doubling as a guest and bringing several guests to the show.

ShellyDobo and her daughter, Zebretta “MizZ” Johnson opened their Dallas headquarters location in 2021 for Schooling Talent and TJOMM located at 1002 Harrison Ave, Suite 200, Arlington, TX 76011. This is a proud moment and a milestone as this has been a long-time culmination of all the work between both ladies.

ShellyDobo’s work in the music industry spans her whole life as she first started performing when she was only 9 years old. She began singing opera in junior high and added musical theater to the mix in high school. As she relocated to Dallas she started to perform with local bands and from there, her musical knowledge and depth just continued to grow. She is currently in the studio now and we can expect to see more music from her soon.

Her musical career expanded to include singing, producing, composing, writing, orchestrating music to short films, special projects with Warner’s Brothers, and arranging several local artists in addition to releasing her own CDs: ”Up-Hold” and “God’s Provision”. Not only did she share her talents with local artists but she offer vocal classes in her own studio from 1999- 2003 at ShellyDobo’s Voice & Dance and has continued to provide this type of development with her non-profit, TJOMM, in schools and recreational centers all around the DFW and Lousiana areas.

Outside of her musical writing abilities, ShellyDobo went ahead and released her first book in 2020 when she wrote “Shortcuts & Practical Ways to Survive Marriage” making her a published author. In this book, she shares things she has learned along the way from her 35A+ years and counting marriage to help additional couples and people, young and seasoned, single and coupled, male and female, as they embark on this journey that she has walked. She is in the midst of actively writing her second book…stay tuned for more details.

“Although I can only draw upon my life experiences, I have taken my lessons and repurposed them into a message of encouragement for other married women. Marriage is not always easy. It can be complicated, tense, and full of anger and resentment, but it can also be the most rewarding adventure you will ever take. If you follow this guide and apply these tactics to your own marriage, the rewards are well worth it.”

- ShellyDobo on “Shortcuts & Practical Ways to Survive Marriage”

Her work and talents are limitless and the world is so excited to see what’s next from ShellyDobo. Some things we can be on the lookout for is new music and her second book which she is currently working on. In her heart, she plans to continue to be a resource to help local artists enhance their original music and take them to a higher level.
